Guyana - Bits and Pieces

Report by Robin Banks:

Business Hours:
Private sector business hours may vary but public hours are 8:00 to 4:30, Monday to Friday. Some private business open on Saturdays for shopping, Supermarkets open up to 8:00pm Mondays to Saturdays. Bonny's, Nigels, Forgarty's and Survival open on Sundays 10 am - 2:00pm. Gas stations open every day up to midnight in some areas, earlier in some. Few stores still close at 12:00 on Saturdays - mostly Austins, Guyana Stores and some of the older businesses. Robbers, bandits and fraudsters work 24 hours a day seven days week - 24/7.

Guysuco Restructure:
They wanted to move the Head Office to Berbice a long time ago (Lomarsh Roopnarine will be proud) - but that is some serious restructuring. And they are actually putting square peg Kissoon Singh as an Estate Manager. That alone convinced me that Guysuco is doomed. On top of that they have seven persons reporting to a non existant deputy CEO.

Berbice Bridge toll:
Well I pay less toll than Bencshop to cross the bridge with my small 'truck' because it is registered as private "P" and not goods 'G'. But I guess I would have done the same like Benschop in that situation - block traffic and protest like a rass. Them is human error jokers at the bridge. But see the vehicle he was driving - some Ford something - dunno where and how he acquired it but like he getting money from somewhere, maybe a 401 K Camp street five year pension fund.
